Today was our second day in the clinic in the city of Iquitos. I spent the morning in the radiology rotation learning how to use the ultrasound and collecting data for the ultrasound research projects; we screened patients for gallstones, ruled out diverticulitis and scanned for cysts. The vegetarian lunch was great: veggie skewers, fries with a popsicle 🙂 In the afternoon, I was on a gynecology rotation where I worked closely with a Spanish translator gathering history and physical exam findings of our patients followed by many pelvic exams. It was a great hands-on learning experience!
