Today was our first day of clinic in Iquitos. When we got there we saw hundreds of people lined up waiting to be treated. We were greeted with a welcoming ceremony then split up to work with the physicians It was chaotic but everything seemed to run smoothly. I was so lucky to be able to work with many patients specifically in physical and family medicine. The doctors were incredibly helpful by passing on their wisdom and allowing us to do most of the history and physicals. It’s clear the patients are grateful for our services, but I am just as grateful for their trust and patience. We are helping them but they are also helping us become better future physicians.
