Dylan Bergeon – 8/15

6:30am wake up call here in Lima today, and bus transport to the oldest hospital in Peru. We were able to participate in internal medicine rotations with the attending and some other Peruvian medical students. Most of the patients demonstrated profound pathology. It was eye opening to witness how resourceful the healthcare professionals are here with what they’re provided. We returned to explore more of the city, and found a cobblestone path and stairs down the steep cliff to the beach. It’s winter here, but it wasn’t stopping some of the locals from catching some waves on their surf boards. Tonight we’re heading to dinner at a restaurant build partially into ancient ruins. The trip is teaching me to constantly stay on my toes. There’s always something new to learn, and something new to surprise you.
