Andrew Scales – 8/13

We started today off with a walk down to the Mira Flores mall.  It’s an amazing place situated right on the cliffs bordering the Pacific Ocean.  After buying some coffees and enjoying the view for a little while, I almost got our group lost trying to find Kennedy Park.  After realizing the park was much further from us than we initially understood it to be, we decided to return to the hotel and take a cab to the city center.  We got out at the Plaza Mayor and made it just in time to watch the changing of the guards.  It was a beautiful and interesting ceremony!  I still need to learn more about the part of the ceremony where one of the guards dances with a small white towel.  From there we made it down the block to the catacombs.  They were quiet, beautiful, and pretty spooky.  We eventually made our way back to the hotel and got ready for what would end up being one of the most incredible dinners I’ve ever had.  So far this experience has been incredible, and I can’t wait for everything else that is in store for us!
