Today we saw patients in Timicurillo and also went piranha fishing. Unfortunately, piranhas seem to know my game plan when fishing; as they always seem to take the meat off of my lure without actually biting the hook. It could also be that every piranha was caught by the rest of my boat, as it seemed they were planning to make piranhas an endangered species with how quickly they were catching the fish. Better luck next time for me hopefully.
Seeing patients was more successful today. I found that we got through a high volume of patients and got to really help some people today. I was on General Medicine, so we were seeing a variety of cases; from your typical scabies presentation to orthostatic hypotension seconday to dehydration (which was very common here). It is difficult to help someone by informing them to drink more water when there is no clean water around them.
