Monkey island – Chris

Started off the day by visiting Monkey Island, in homage to Guybrush Threepwood, a rehabilitation center of sorts for all wild animals. The owners of the Island take in injured animals – toucans, parrots, sloths, and of course monkeys – to bring them back to health. Regular veterinarian visits ensure that the animals achieve health. The animals are not caged, and allowed to roam freely on the island to stimulate the wild. This sometimes poses small problems, when visitors to the Island’s bar get too comfortable with our primate cousins and they get a hold of our overly sugary, carbonated beverages. Luckily our group has monkey-whisperers, like Cindy Ge, who saved one of the resident monkeys from health problems resulting from life-style choices, like dental caries and diabetes.
