After a long day of travel yesterday, I was so excited to finally be in Peru! Today we had a free day to explore Lima. I, along with some others, decided to go sight seeing in the morning! We gathered at the government plaza with a large crowd to watch “el cambio de guardia” (the changing of the guards). Following that we had a guided tour around the Lima Archbishop’s Palace museum and Lima cathedral where we saw beautiful art and architecture and learned some history about the city. We ended our morning by visiting the catacombs where we went into the underground tunnels where people were once buried. After all of the sightseeing, we had a delicious late lunch overlooking the ocean. I can’t wait to see what the rest of the trip has in store!
