The past two weeks in clinic have been an amazing learning experience. To see patients who were malnourished, suffering from the effects of unclean drinking water, and who have been forced to let pathologies advance much further than would be allowed in the states is truly disheartening. Being able to do something to help these people is nice, but it does not make me or my colleagues feel all that much better knowing that there are many more people out there suffering from the same problems, and that these problems may reoccur in a few months for these patients. I feel very fortunate to have been able to take part in this experience and learn from the doctors and patients who have been willing to teach me what it means to be a doctor over the past two weeks.
